The Eight Districts

All eight districts share borders. Proximity is a programme design choice, not an accident.

District FAQs

Why are some district household numbers shown as ranges (e.g. '28,400+')? +
The '+' suffix means 'at least this many'. We publish the verified floor per district — the real number is likely higher but cannot yet be source-verified. The '+' is removed only when the next annual re-verification confirms an exact figure.
Are inactive villages removed from the count? +
Yes. A village is considered 'active' if it has hosted a Meer Foundation activity in the last 24 months. Villages that go dormant are removed from the active count and listed separately in the underlying register.
Why is Dhamtari's programme footprint denser? +
Because Dhamtari is our home. Meer Foundation was founded in Dhamtari in 2011, and four of our five flagship programmes were piloted here. The density is a function of time and continuity, not favouritism.
Will Meer Foundation expand beyond Chhattisgarh? +
Not in the foreseeable future. Our strategy is depth within the same contiguous districts, not geographic spread across states.
