Meer Foundation Development Apprenticeship Program (MDAP): a structured, immersive, field-based learning programme designed to produce development practitioners who can design, execute, and evaluate rural development work from day one.

Programme Tracks

Three durations. One standard: learn by doing, not by observing.

☀️ Summer Apprenticeship

2–3 months, full-time intensive. Designed for students on academic break.

Full-time2–3 months

📘 Semester Apprenticeship

4–6 months, part-time (20 hrs/week) or full-time. For final-year students.

Part/Full-time4–6 months

🎯 Year-long Apprenticeship

9–12 months, full-time immersive. For graduates and early-career professionals.

Four-Phase Learning Model

Each phase builds on the previous — theory informs practice, practice informs reflection.

Phase 1
Orientation
Chhattisgarh socio-economic context, community engagement ethics, field safety, mentor matching.
Phase 2
Classroom
M&E fundamentals, community-based research, communication for development, case study analysis.
Phase 3
Field
Community engagement, data collection, mentor-supervised deliverables, weekly field reports.
Phase 4
Capstone
Panel presentation and defence, competency evaluation, exit interview, certification and alumni onboarding.

MDAP FAQs

Is the apprenticeship paid? +
Depending on the programme category, apprentices may receive a field allowance or reimbursement of approved expenses. Details will be specified in each programme announcement.
Will accommodation be provided? +
Accommodation may be arranged during designated field placements where required.
Is prior rural experience mandatory? +
No. A willingness to learn, adapt, and engage respectfully with communities is more important than previous field experience.
Can the apprenticeship count for academic credit? +
Yes. We sign academic MoUs with institutions and structure deliverables to meet academic requirements. Coordinate with your institution's internship cell and we will work with them.
What happens after the apprenticeship ends? +
Apprentices receive a certificate, join the alumni network, and may be considered for full-time roles at Meer Foundation based on performance and availability. Several current team members are former apprentices.
